Uni Uyo Matriculates 10,926 Students For 2016/2017 Session
University of Uyo in Akwa Ibom at the weekend admitted 10, 926 fresh students for the 2016/2017 academic session.
Addressing the new students, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Enefiok Essien warned against cultism and all activities that would be detrimental to their studies while also advising them to set goals for themselves and dutifully pursue the goals to a successful completion.
He urged the students to live within the dictates of the school’s rules and regulations, warning that management would not hesitate to wield the big stick against non conformists.
“You are to submit to duly constituted authorities of the University, to shun cultism and to obey the rules and regulations governing the University”, he warned.
He said, “I encourage you to remain positively adventurous throughout your university experience. More importantly, from this moment on, you will shed most of your childish nuances and youthful exuberance and devote your time and energy to your studies.
“What this means is that you must have the right priorities, with your education at the very top. Remember that there will be no bell to ring, no parent to wake you up from bed or monitor your movement.”
What you need is to be disciplined enough to get prepared for your lectures and other positive social activities on time.”
